Nagsasa Cove, Zambales - Pre-birthday Getaway

01 September 2013

I have been to a few beautiful places in the Philippines and I admit that I regret not being able to document each of the travels I made. I am too lazy to upload or even take pictures of places I've been (most are just selfies LOL). But I guess it is never too late to start something you really wanted to do right? Kaya heto ako ngayon at gumawa ng sarili kong travel diary and this is my very first post. (Naks! Feeling travel blogger.)

Each year, I always make sure that I spend my birthday in a special way. And by special, I go out of town and relax (last year, me and my friends went on a 3-day adventure to Cagayan de Oro, Camiguin and Bukidnon).

Since my birthday falls on a weekday this year, two of my friends and I decided to celebrate it in advance. I wanted to just have a weekend trip because it would be too much if I ask them to take a day off work for my birthday. We did not have a clear plan on where to go until the night before our scheduled trip. After a few conversation over Twitter, we finally picked Nagsasa Cove. Thanks to travel blogs everywhere, we pretty had a concrete idea on where to go and how much to spend.

We arrived in the island on a Saturday afternoon. The people there (mostly natives) are very hospitable and even let us borrow their kitchen utensils, so cooking was not a hassle. There is also a store in the island in case you need something but the goods are quite pricey as expected. We already bought the things we need in San Antonio Market but we were short on some other stuff like charcoal, dishwashing liquid, etc., and left with no choice but to get it from the store.

We spent the night in front of the beach, telling stories over a bottle of alcohol and my birthday cake as pulutan. LOL.

Bonfire in front of the beach.

The next day, the caretakers offered us a tour to the falls for Php100 per person. I never knew there are falls in the island or I may have just overlooked it from the blogs I've read. The trek took almost an hour but it was definitely worth it. We crossed rivers and climbed rocks just to get to the falls which is quite an adventure for me.

After an hour of pure enjoyment, we headed back to the our camp site to take our lunch. We explored the island a little more, good thing the weather was good. The natives told us that it had been raining for a few days before we went there.

We arranged for our boat to pick us up at 3pm and gladly, they arrived on time. I definitely enjoyed this birthday celebration and made sure this experience will be taken home with me by taking a lot of pictures. Hehehe.
